Last night in our Bible study we were talking of Satan’s tricks. We discussed John 8 where Jesus is telling the Pharisees that they are children of the devil because they do not believe that He is the Messiah. Please read his description of who Satan really is: 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no…..
Do you ever think maybe, God is smiling? Most of the time we are serious when we think of Him. We think of Him as the God of wrath who punishes His children. We conjure up guilt and shame because we know that we just can’t be good enough. But these are the words of Satan and not our God and Father. God never expected us to be perfect. He knew we would sin and fall short of the righteousness…..
If you asked me to describe myself in one word, the last word I would use would be holy. Holy sounds so righteous and beyond reproach. It sounds so perfect and so “Godly”. This absolutely doesn’t describe me. I am a sinner and one of the worst. Yet, 1 Peter 1:15-16 tells us: “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’” Holy…..
What a glorious three weeks we had in Costa Rica. It is the most beautiful, lush country filled with lovely, gracious people. We are so thankful that we got to go on this adventure and we are so thankful to be home. It is good to step aside in your life and looks at things from outside your normal routine. That is what we were able to do. In an entirely different country you see things in a completely different…..
What a fabulous time we have had in Costa Rica. I hope you have enjoyed me writing about it. There is just no way I can describe it. You will have to plan a trip down here. Let me know and maybe we’ll join you. We are, however, on our way home today. Even though we have had such a great time, we are anxious to get home to our house and our bed! We actually came to Costa Rica…..
The name Costa Rica means rich coast. It is truly a paradise. The fauna and flora are magnificent. I am constantly reminded of the majesty of God’s creation. The tree in the picture is just off our patio. I hope you can see the size of the leaves. I’ve never seen anything like it. My first thought was that these must have been the kind of leaves used to make clothes for Adam and Eve. Genesis 3 talks about the…..
Since we have been in Costa Rica I have begun to realize what a hectic, harried life we live. When at home we are constantly busy. We overlook growing as a Christian. While many of the busyness is important, a lot of it is just stuff crammed into our day. We have so many things we think we MUST do. Costa Rica is another world. Nothing moves fast around here. It takes a bit of getting used to but once…..
Have you ever been on vacation in a beautiful place and it is raining? We are in Costa Rica and it is the rainy season. This is a tropical rainforest, you know. It will rain for an hour or two most afternoons and then the sun comes out and everything is lush and green. Again, God’s great plan. Today we are enjoying a glorious rain with rolling thunder. I only wish you could be here to hear and smell it……
“Bible Verse 57” (CC BY 2.0) by Waiting For The Word There is a popular Christian song out now that talks about wanting to go back to Jesus Loves Me. He explains that things are so complicated now and we have so much strife and conflict in our life. It was much simpler when we were young and all we knew was that: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” Those were the good old…..
