Since you have been following my blog, you know that God called me to write Good Morning, God! At first I thought I surely didn’t hear Him ask me to write a daily devotional. I thought, “God, don’t you know that Max Lucado, Beth Moore, Charles Stanley, Billy Graham and many others have written a daily devotional?” He assured me that was just what He wanted me to do. I thought, “Okay, this won’t be hard. I’ll just use the…..
As Christians we believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We have been studying the Trinity in our Sunday school class. It is so very interesting but so hard to understand with our finite minds. Did you know that the term “Trinity” is not in the Bible? However, our Great God gives us many scriptures which tell us of the Trinity. In Genesis 1:26 God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Of whom was…..
I never spent much time reading the book of Proverbs. It just seemed to be repetition. But, the Proverbs are words of wisdom from Solomon. He was David’s son to whom God gave one wish as he was about to inherit the Kingdom of Israel as its king. Solomon asked for wisdom. We read this in 2 Chronicles 1:11-12: ‘God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor…..
In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus tells us: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” This seems to be too good to be true. How can we get everything we ask or seek? How can every door be opened to us? There are so many prayers we…..
Many of my prayers are asking God to show me His will for my life. There are so many uncertainties and choices. Should I do this or not? Very rarely do I get a definitive “yes or no” from God. I think He wants us to continue in prayer and petition seeking His will. God is not in a hurry as we are. He relishes the time we spend with Him seeking His will. Paul thought he was doing the…..
If you know me, you know that I was raised as a Christian. I went to Sunday school and church every Sunday. In fact, we were there in the proverbial sense, “every time the doors were open”. All in my family had strong faith. I loved our little church in our hometown. What beautiful memories I have there. In fact, I was married there. I must admit that in college and when we first married we didn’t go to church. …..
What do you think of when you think of power? I don’t mean like electrical power but strong power – strength. What is the most powerful thing you know? Having lived on a sailboat, the first thing that comes to my mind is that water is incredibly powerful. It is bigger than we are and it has a force that in a hurricane or tsunami can completely devastate everything in its path. Mere men are no comparison for the power…..
We all grew up learning and memorizing the 10 Commandments. I was so relieved when the first one said that we should have no others gods before Him. I knew I would never do that. It was the other nine I had to worry about. As I matured I realized what this commandment meant. I realized how many, many gods I had placed before Him. We can do that without even realizing it. What about your pride? Do you place…..
