If I asked you what kind of day you were having, how would you reply? Is your day great, just ok or really bad? Or would you say having a Mountaintop Experience? I realize there are circumstances that can ruin your day, week or even life. Things happen that we cannot control.
However, I’ve noticed that most of the time my life seems pretty mundane. I get up and drink coffee with the Lord. That is one of the best parts of my day. Many times it goes downhill from there. We get caught up in the day-to-day things that seem to consume us. They are necessary things, but they don’t always lift us up.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a Mountaintop Experience as often as we would like. But if you read the Bible, especially Paul’s letters to the churches, you find that each of these letters are filled with joy. Most of these letters were written while he was in prison and yet he is still rejoicing.
I see a correlation here and hope you do too. It seems that when we spend time with God and in God’s word we become filled with joy. He can take the darkest of days and turn them into sunshine with His Word. We read of His love for us and His provision. We can read the Psalms and sing His praises. It is hard to be down when you’re praising God.
I challenge you to start planning your trip to the mountaintop right now. Get your Bible out, pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit and let His Word lift you higher and higher. You are a precious child of God and He loves you dearly. Take a deep breath, the air is rare up there!
