I must admit that one of my worst sins is judging others. I guess the Pharisee comes out in me and I think I have the right to make judgments on others. I know this is wrong and I pray for God to keep me from this sin. He is a God of mercy.
It is easy to fall into this trap. Some people beg to be judged. They do terrible things, and we know they are wrong. They don’t do what they should. They don’t study the Bible, and they don’t do unto as others as they would have them do unto them. How can we not judge them? We know they are wrong.
We think we can see into the hearts of others. Only God can do that. He alone is the judge and whatever is going on is between them and God.
God makes it very clear in Matthew 7:
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
He showers us with this mercy each day. Shouldn’t we show that same mercy to others? The next time you find yourself judging someone, recall this scripture.
