Is there someone in your life who steals your joy? There is always some culprit who knows the exact buttons to push and get under your skin. I don’t know why this has to be. You can tell yourself over and over that you won’t fall into their trap this time and yet they can get the best of you.
We all try to lead our lives as Jesus would have us to do. I loved those bracelets that were popular a few years ago: “WWJD?” They were a stark reminder to stop and consider the ramifications of what we are about to do. I especially love that the young people were wearing them.
We pray and ask God to lead us and guide us. How can we fall so short? What are we doing wrong? I know He hears and answers our prayers. God wants us to live a life of joy. Jesus tells us that He came to give us abundant life.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 says:
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
It is God’s will for us to be joyful. If we are not, we are to pray and give thanks in all circumstances. These are very good instructions from our Lord. We have our joy in the Lord.
Don’t let anyone steal your joy. They can only do that if you let them. Call upon the Lord. His Word will fill you with joy no matter who is trying to defeat you. We are His children and He is our Good, Good Father. That should bring joy sufficient to overcome any trials you have when people try to steal your joy. This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
