There is a popular Christian song out now that talks about wanting to go back to Jesus Loves Me. He explains that things are so complicated now and we have so much strife and conflict in our life. It was much simpler when we were young and all we knew was that: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”
Those were the good old days – no worries and no cares. Unfortunately, we can’t go back to those days, but we can still know how much Jesus loves us. That will give us a sense of peace in the midst of this crazy world.
Paul tells us in Ephesians 1:17-19
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”
These verses should bring pure joy to our hearts. We do know that Jesus loves us but Paul wants us to know just how deep is that love. We have the hope to which He has called us to become children of God. We have an inheritance with Him in heaven. We have the power of the Holy Spirit and we can do all things through Him strengthens us.
That sort of puts things in a different perspective. We have more than we could ever imagine as being a child of God. We don’t have to go back to the good old days. Our greatest days lie before us. Praise God for sending His Son who loves us so much that He died that we could spend eternity with Him.
