As I begin each blog, I go to the Lord in prayer for inspiration and to ask what He would like me to share with each of you. In pondering the topic for this blog I was drawing a blank so I began searching scripture. I’ve done this many times in the past and the Lord always comes through for me. I read a scripture and knew that this is it – Are You Happy!
In my previous blog, I wrote about the wondrous rich blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us. I also made a comparison, of sorts, with those who have very little. This seems to be the state of our world.
The major problem lies not in what you have but whether or not you are content. There are many people who have all the money in the world and are completely miserable. We know that money can’t buy us happiness. Others have less but are very content.
Well then, what can “buy” happiness? Paul definitely knew the answer. He tells us in Philippians 411b-13:
“… for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content to any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”
Did you notice he said he could be content whether well fed or hungry? He didn’t say whether or not he owned a Cadillac or a VW. He knew the only true happiness is in the Lord who will provide our every need.
I ask you to do some soul-searching. Are you truly happy and content? If not, ask the Lord to open your heart to see and cherish His great grace and mercy. We have so much to be thankful for. We can do all things through Him! Praise God!
