In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus tells us: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
This seems to be too good to be true. How can we get everything we ask or seek? How can every door be opened to us? There are so many prayers we pray that seem not to be answered.
Have you ever prayed for someone to be saved? I have. I know someone whose life was in shambles. He didn’t seem to have a chance for success much less salvation. My heart was broken for him. I prayed fervently each day for the Lord to place someone in his life who could lead him to the Lord.
This dear one lived in another state and I only saw him periodically so I depended on the Holy Spirit to save him and change his heart.
God does answer our prayers and sometimes in the most unusual way. God indeed placed someone in my friend’s life — the most unlikely character but God uses us all in ways that we don’t know.
My friend is now filled with the Holy Spirit. It took years of prayer but God never wants one of His own to perish.
When Jesus tells us to ask, seek, and knock the translation from the Greek actually means to keep on asking; keep on seeking and keep on knocking. Don’t ever sell God short. Don’t try to put him in a box. Nothing is impossible for God. Keep on praying. God hears your prayers and He will answer them — in His time and in His Way. He can use you to change lives. Praise God.
