I love the story in Ezekiel 37 where the Lord takes Ezekiel to a valley covered in the bones of an army that had been defeated. There were bones everywhere and they had been there so long they were completely dry. The Lord asked Ezekiel if these bones could live. He replied that only God knew. God told Ezekiel to prophesy to these bones to come alive. As he did as God said, the bones began to rattle and tendons…..
Did you know you are the hope of the world? Christ calls us to be the salt of the earth in Matthew 5:13. Salt preserves, enhances, enriches and intensifies. God put us all here to add meaning, not to find meaning. Our purpose is here. Don’t lose sight of what Christ said. With the Inauguration only a few days away, there are many people in turmoil. I’m sure you’ve seen all the dissent about “He’s not my President.” Some people…..
Have you ever spent much time reading and studying the Psalms? They are filled with words of wisdom. They are filled with praises to God for His goodness and mercy. God is a forgiving God. Spend time with the Psalms, they will lift you up. Most of the Psalms were written by David, one of my heroes of the Bible. He was just a boy when God called him to be the King of Israel. He spent years being chased…..
"Psalm 9:10" (CC BY 2.0) by [Share the Word] With the New Year we have new beginnings. It is an exciting time of great expectation. However, we still have the same old problems from last year lingering in our mind. We know that we must trust in God but we are impatient. We worry about money, our children, our future and all sorts of things. We pray and ask God for guidance and we wait. We know that God hears our prayers…..
We have all just spent countless hours watching television stories and reports about our Presidential election. We have received numerous political phone calls and have been bombarded with mud-slinging debates. Thank God that is all over and it is a new year. No matter your political stance, the good news is God is still on His throne and God is in control. No matter which candidate you voted for, Donald Trump will become our new President in a few days. …..
Happy New Year to each and every one of you! The idea of a New Year is exciting to me. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us all. While we all look ahead in the New Year we should also take time to remember. As my husband, Dennis, and I were flying back from Atlanta recently, I decided to take out the in-flight magazine because I wanted to pass the time. There was an article…..
God is continually working in our lives whether we realize it or not. God has a plan and will orchestrate our lives to fulfill that plan. When Jesus was born and the Three Wise Men went to Herod asking where they could find the King of the Jews, Herod became enraged. We know the tragic story that he had all the boys under the age of two killed so that this “King” could not overtake him. Matthew 2:13 tells us: …..
I pray you had a wonderful Christmas filled with joy and peace. I pray you were surrounded with family and friends and, of course, lots of good food. I also bet that even though it was all great, you are happy that it is over! Now we can just get back to our normal lives and before we know it, it will be Christmas again. Did you know that the story of the Wise Men appears only in the book…..
“Adeste Fideles” (CC BY 2.0) by Trish Hamme I have a friend who loves me dearly. In fact, he is my best friend and my husband, Dennis. I am so blessed. We have been through a lot together over the past 47 years. Some of it has been exceedingly joyful and other times have been very sad and sometimes very scary. But he has been right there by my side and I am so grateful. I know you have heard this many times:…..
"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" (CC BY 2.0) by Phil Roeder I heard someone say that everything happens for a reason and sometimes that reason is because you made a stupid decision. I laughed out loud but the more I thought about it, that is really a profound statement. We all have things in our life that we regret. We think, “if only I had done this or not done that.” Some of the regrets we have are very serious and the repercussions…..
