Have you ever been in such a dire circumstance that you don’t know how to pray? Things are so completely out of your control and there is no way out. You think there is no solution and there is nowhere to turn.
These are the times we call on the Lord. I hate when I do that. I know I should call on Him first but I think I have to fix it. That is not God’s plan. He says that when we are weak we are made strong.
“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)
Just as muscles become stronger when they are stretched, so it is with our soul. When we face tribulation the Lord will give us the strength to get through it. We only need to call on Him.
But, maybe things are so bad that you don’t even know how to pray, God has a plan for that also. Paul tells us in Romans 8:26-27:
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”
When you don’t know what to pray, ask the Spirit to pray for you. He knows us so well that He will pray with groans that words cannot express. That is how much God loves you. You will feel the peace that can come only from the Lord.
Isn’t that beautiful? God is in control. He is on His throne and all is well with my soul. Praise God.
