Do you ever think maybe, God is smiling? Most of the time we are serious when we think of Him. We think of Him as the God of wrath who punishes His children. We conjure up guilt and shame because we know that we just can’t be good enough. But these are the words of Satan and not our God and Father.
God never expected us to be perfect. He knew we would sin and fall short of the righteousness of God. He knows that we work at being “good” but just can’t ever quite get there. Paul tells us in Romans 3:10 that “There is no one righteous, not even one.” That is why He sent His only Son to die for our sins. We simply can’t be “good enough” to even get close to heaven.
So, we need to study the scriptures and pray for God to give us wisdom to know that He is God and He loves us even when we sin. We need to offer Him prayers of praise and thanksgiving for His grace and mercy.
Do you realize that when you offer up praise to God it is considered a sacrifice? We are giving God the glory for all that He does in our life. We are giving him thanks for His love and goodness.
Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
The next time you pray, don’t think of God as a stern father but as our Good, Good Father. He loves it when we thank and praise Him. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. I can just see that God is smiling right now!
