I just had the most wonderful experience. I was asked to speak at a retirement home and do a book signing. It was such a blessing. What a wonderful group.
I labored over what I should say, but, of course, the Lord gave me the words and I think it was well received. The title of the talk was “Walking on Water.” I was inspired by the scripture in Matthew where Jesus walks on the water and Peter says, “If it is you, Lord, tell me to come to You on the water.”
We know the story of how Peter actually walked on the water as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. When he looked away at the wind and the waves he began to sink.
There is a valuable lesson in this. If we keep our eyes on Jesus, we can do all things. It is when we look to the world and all the storms around us that we can be consumed.
There is another very important lesson in these verses. When Peter took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink he called out to the Lord to save him. Peter knew on Whom to call when in times of trouble.
We should also notice that even though Peter failed to keep his eyes on Jesus, the Lord still reached out His hand to save him. Jesus knows our every weakness and is always there to save us from the storms of this world.
I’d like you to think about two things:
First of all, keep your eyes on Jesus and secondly, know that He will always be there for you no matter what is going on in your life. You can depend on our Lord in all things. Just trust in Him because He promises He will never leave us. Praise God!
