Have you ever kept a journal? Many people do. They have gillions of them in the book stores. My precious husband, Dennis, gave me a journal when my book, Good Morning, God! was published. What a thoughtful gift. He knew I was about to embark on a new chapter in my life and I should be chronicling the experiences.
I had tried journaling before but just never really stayed with it. Since Dennis gave me this one, I felt obligated to at least try. I found it was very easy and fulfilling to simply write my thoughts. It makes me reflect on things. It is a time of renewal. It lets me see how great our God is.
Journaling is now part of my quiet time with the Lord. Things happen when you actually write something down. It seems more real or concrete. You can see the words on the page and go back to them when you need them. I find that most of my journaling is my prayers. I write to God what is on my heart that day and how I need Him to guide me and get me through whatever it is. It makes me more aware of the situation when I truly think about it enough to write it down. I know God hears my prayers but this is a new dimension of communing with Him.
My journaling also turns into to a great time of praise. I love to write praises to the Lord. I love to offer to Him great gratitude for what He has done and is doing in my life. It is good to organize your thoughts. Journaling gives me an opportunity to express my joy and love of the Lord. I am so happy Dennis gave me this gift. I pray you will try it for yourself. It is a great blessing.
