Well, we have made it through Thanksgiving. You know what that means, Christmas is around the corner. Christmas, as the song says, is the most wonderful time of the year. I totally agree. Christmas is about the birth of our Savior and children and family. Let’s pray that there be Peace on Earth. What is more joyous than that?
I have made a vow this year to enjoy every minute of the Christmas Season. We don’t have to let the commercialism and craziness get to us. For one thing, I have decided not to get Christmas presents for anyone but the children this year. We are going to make a charitable contribution in honor of our friends. Having to go to the mall and fight the crowds to buy gifts for everyone can take the joy out of Christmas.
Most of us are at the stage in our lives where we really don’t need anything, but there are so many people who are in dire need. These are the people with whom we want to share Christmas. I hope our friends and family understand. I bet they will. We are blessed with such wonderful Christian friends.
Think about it. Don’t you know it breaks Jesus’ heart to see what we have let His Birthday become? All He wants for Christmas is our heart.
So, as you go about planning for Christmas this year, think about the real meaning and not what the TV commercials try to make you believe. Let’s make it a simple, joyful occasion, you know, kind of like the first Christmas! I think that would please Jesus very much.
Pray about it. Give praise to the Lord for He is good and His mercies endure forever. Pray for joy and peace and good health for all your loved ones. Pray for peace on earth. Pray for God to bless America. These are the most wonderful gifts of all for the most wonderful time of the year.
