Sometimes it seems that God is so near I could reach out and touch Him. I love when that happens. You can just see and feel the wondrous things He does. It is amazing.
At other times He can feel so far away. It seems that your prayers just don’t come out right. You don’t feel the Spirit moving you and you don’t know why. You just don’t feel Him near you.
I heard a cute story about an elderly couple taking a Sunday drive in the country. They passed a pickup truck and the young girl was sitting right next to her boyfriend. You could just see the love in their eyes. The lady asked her husband why they never sat close anymore. He replied, “I haven’t gone anywhere!”
That is just how it is with God. He never goes anywhere. He is constantly with us and loves hearing every prayer we utter. He wants us to be right by His side all the time.
You don’t have to sit down and spend a great deal of time with the Lord. He would love it if you do, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing”. You can say (or think) words of praise and worship to the Lord anywhere and anytime. The next time you find yourself just too busy to pray, concentrate on thanking God for everything that encompasses your day. You can be thankful you have such a beautiful bed to make or that you can open your fridge and get about anything you want.
Make every day a day filled with mini-prayers. You will find that your spirit is lifted and you will know that God is right there with you even if you’re doing the laundry or cutting the grass.
