Do you ever have days when you feel as if your prayers don’t get past the ceiling? Sometime my prayers just don’t flow and my mind wanders and I become discouraged. I feel as if God is far away. I don’t know why this happens. But, I know that when we don’t know what to pray, Paul tells us in Romans 8: 26:
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
“Through wordless groans” – Can you imagine the Holy Spirit praying for you with words that we do not even know? Prayers for our soul and relationship with God. How awesome is our God!
Prayer is one of our most precious gifts. We can actually enter the Throne Room of God and sit at His feet. It is sweet communion with our God and King. We can pour out our heart – all our cares, hopes, dreams, sorrows and praises. It is such a privilege to know that He is always waiting for us and it brings Him great joy when we spend time with Him.
He is like the father in the story of the Prodigal Son. He is waiting and watching for us. When he sees us he runs to us with open arms no matter how long we have been gone or how disobedient we have become. God is love and we are showered with His grace.
God knows the desires of our heart before we even pray but He covets a relationship with us. He wants us to know Him better and love Him more. It is through our time of prayer that we get to know the heart of God.
Regardless of how “spiritual” I feel while praying, I know that God hears my prayers and He is so happy that I am spending time with Him. I love to sing His praises! I love to become closer and closer to Him through daily prayer.
