You don’t hear many sermons from the Book of Revelation. Some think it is a very mysterious and scary part of the Bible. It talks about the end times, the tribulation and the Millennium. These are all very hard for our human minds to comprehend.
I frequently have people ask me if I think we are living in the end times. My answer is a definitive YES. The end times began the day the Holy Spirit came into this world. The question is, “How close are we to the end of the end times?”
I love the Book of Revelation. The main reason is because I know how it ends. Satan is thrown into the lake of fire and we live and reign with Jesus forever and ever.
In Revelation 1, John has just been taken up to heaven and he encounters the Lord. He gives a beautiful description of how glorious He looks but I love where he says in verse 15b: “and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters.”
I’ve heard it explained that it is as loud is Niagara Falls. It is all consuming. We have no idea how we will react when we see Jesus in all His glory. John, who spent three years with Him day and night, says in verse 17: “When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead.” John, who knew Him so well, was even overcome by His glory.
Every time I think of a loved one in heaven it fills me with joy to the point of tears. They are with Jesus and see Him in all His glory. They hear his voice that is like the sound of rushing waters. They are reigning with Him right now. Do not despair. Thank You, Jesus!
Take a moment to meditate on the voice of God speaking in your life. He is speaking… listen for His voice. Life itself is loud, we must listen to His voice above it all.
