When I was young I loved the story of Sir Lancelot and King Arthur. It was such a magical tale in magical times. I love the thought of knights in shining armor. They were almost invincible. They would always fight to defend the kingdom and the princess and defeat evil. It set my young heart aflutter.
But, unfortunately, life isn’t a fairytale. We live in the real world and there is evil around us. We are bombarded daily with temptations. I love in 1 Peter 5 where he says that Satan is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. This gives us a true picture of what we are up against.
Thank God He has equipped us with the armor we need to defend ourselves from such times. He tells us in Ephesians 6:10-11
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Our “armor” consists of the belt of truth; the breastplate of righteousness; feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. We also have the shield of faith with which we can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. We have the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
We have to stay in the Word of God to know His plans for us. God has provided every tool we need to fend off Satan’s fiery arrows. God has us covered with His protection for every area of our life. Please take some time to read Ephesians 6:10-18. You will learn to be strong in the Lord. He will always be there for us.
