As we start our day with all our comforts and luxuries it is so easy to take everything for granted. We slept in a comfortable bed kept cool by the air conditioner. We have a cup of coffee ready for us when we awake because we set the timer last night. We have a delicious breakfast and put the dishes in the dishwasher. What else could we possibly need? Maybe think of those less fortunate?
We know there are millions of people who are less fortunate but we really don’t think much about that. We have so much to do today. That’s what is foremost in our mind.
In Luke’s day things were much different. He tells us in Acts 2:45-47:
“Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”
Can you imagine? Oh how I wish it could be that way today. What a wonderful, Godly world it would be. Can you imagine going to church every day and praising God with glad and sincere hearts?
We have so much more than we could ever need. Oh how I wish there were a way to share with those less fortunate. Of course there is a way.
As you go about your day, think of all the people who didn’t even have a bed or much less a house in which to sleep. Give God sincere thanks and praise for all your blessings. Pray for those people and maybe even make a contribution to a charity that will help them. You won’t even miss it because we have been blessed by so much.
