As Christians we believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We have been studying the Trinity in our Sunday school class. It is so very interesting but so hard to understand with our finite minds.
Did you know that the term “Trinity” is not in the Bible? However, our Great God gives us many scriptures which tell us of the Trinity. In Genesis 1:26 God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Of whom was He speaking if not the Trinity?
The most explicit passage is Matthew 3:16-17: When Jesus was baptized, “the heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on Him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Can you imagine standing there and witnessing this? You would be forever changed. Unfortunately we weren’t there but we have scripture to relate these stories to us.
Many people say that the “god” of other religions is just their name for our “God”. This is not so. We believe in a Triune God. Jesus tells us that He is the only way to the Father. He also told us that He would send His Holy Spirit to dwell in us after He rose from the dead.
Bible study is so important to grow as a Christian. You need to have a good study Bible that has footnotes with explanations of the scriptures. We miss so much if we simply read the Bible.
I pray you will commit to doing some “serious” Bible study. Your heart and mind will be opened to the wonders of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You will grow in your faith and understanding of the Trinity. The more you know God the more you love Him and want to do His will.
