I lost a very dear friend this week. She was 94 and we have been great friends for over 30 years. She was one of those people who just spread love and sunshine wherever she went. She also was very wise. God provides people in our lives to pass on wisdom to us.
For thirty years she has been telling Dennis and me that we are the perfect age. We need to do all the things we want now because you just never know about tomorrow. I guess when you are 25 years older than someone you think they are the perfect age. It is all relative.
We need to know that when we are young we feel invincible and we think we have all the time in the world. We can’t imagine becoming old. I remember in elementary school the teacher was talking about the Millennium. I calculated that I would be 53 years old then and surely would not still be alive. Little did I know! I’m still here 17 years later and now I feel young!
We know two things: Life is uncertain and death is certain. God calls us to an extraordinary life. We need to make every opportunity to do all we can to have that life. We don’t have to be rich and famous. No, unfortunately, that is usually a recipe for disaster. We need to enjoy the simple things of life and realize that all we have is from God.
One of the best ways to have a blessed life is to seek His will in all you do and do everything to His glory. After all, you are as young as you will ever be.
