One of my favorite Bible verses is Ephesians 2: 8-9:
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
These are probably some of the most comforting words in the Bible. We all know that we are sinners. Try as we may, sin can just creep in. But our Loving God knows that. He sees us as a work in progress.
However, while we are basking in His grace we often overlook the very next verse: 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Not only does He shower us with His grace, He is continually working in us to be more like Jesus and to do good works. He has given each one of us gifts of the Holy Spirit. Please read 1 Corinthians 12 to learn of these unique gifts that are different for all of us.
God wants us to serve Him and further His Kingdom. In doing this we bring Him glory. He also knows that we all have limitations. Because He is such a Loving God He will equip us with whatever we need to accomplish these works.
God is continually working in us to make us better each day. We are truly a work in progress. Spend time with Him and ask Him how you can serve Him. When you are serving Him you will be filled with His joy. Praise God.
